Our Philosophy and Purpose
The Internet was developed for the exchange of ideas, the accumulation and dissemination of information, and make it possible for groups with a common purpose to collaborate.
Had the net remained true to its original purpose Windows95 would have been more than adequate. Beginning in the 1990's when the web began a steady - then flood of commercialization it became necessary for browser developers to create evermore complex and troublesome platforms. CMSs, Blogs, and Forums were created not only to increase web participation but to increase revenue. Now the internet is out of control, billions of pages are out there and a typical search on Google brings up millions. How do people who just want to communicate claw through the noise? The wiki remains a simple, open, and useful tool to help us get back to the basics. Our wiki is a "flat file" program and doesn't even use a database. All you need is a few megs of server space and an internet connection (even dialup works fine).
The wiki has its roots in that original purpose and remains the best vehicle to express it.
